NBTC Advances Television Regulatory Roadmap, Gathers Targeted Stakeholder Input
(November 3, 2025) The Office of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) convened a focus group consultation on the (draft) Roadmap for Thailand’s television and broadcasting sector in the area of regulation at Sailom Auditorium 5021, 2nd Floor, Auditorium Building, NBTC Office.
The meeting aimed to further refine and elaborate the roadmap to ensure greater clarity and comprehensiveness. It was co-chaired by Professor Emeritus Dr. Pirongrong Ramasoota, NBTC Commissioner for Television Affairs, and Air Chief Marshal Dr. Thanapant Harai Charoen, NBTC Commissioner for Broadcasting Affairs, with executives and officials from the NBTC Office in attendance.
The Digital Television Association (Thailand) also participated in providing comments, represented by Mr. Adisak Limprungpatanakit, Advisor to the Association; Mr. Diao Woratantrakul, Secretary-General; Ms. Nantapan Saengchai, Board Member and Treasurer; Ms. Sujanya Villegas, Board Member; and Ms. Natnaphang Songsomjit, Board Member, along with representatives from various television stations.
Key discussion points for this consultation included a summary of feedback from the previous meeting (October 14, 2025) and additional regulatory input, followed by consideration of the (draft) Roadmap. Major issues raised for discussion and stakeholder input included:
- Spectrum allocation for television services
- The discontinuation of C-Band usage for satellite television
- Development of regulatory approaches for streaming platforms
- Establishment of a flexible and effective regulatory framework
- Other regulatory aspects, such as Must Carry rules, channel numbering, and network (MUX) rental rates
- The development of this roadmap marks a significant step in shaping the future direction of Thailand’s television and broadcasting regulation, ensuring it keeps pace with evolving technologies and changing consumer behavior.
